My wife and I got this game to the table for the first time and for once, I am happy to say, we had no major issues with the rules. So why am I writing this post I hear you ask. Well, it seemed a bit too easy to achieve the 10 glory points to win the game.

My wife won the first game by purchasing goods that were in demand at the neighbouring port for 1GP each (buying 3+ of each at a time) and then selling them at 6gp each, and earning a Glory Point each time. As she had no real desire to spend this gold on anything other than goods, she quickly built up 50gp which was then deposited at her home port. And before I knew it, it was game over.

Now, I understand that the thing with “sandbox” games is that, you will only get out of the game what you are willing to put in to it. So if a player chooses the easy route to victory then this will only be just another trading game.
But, if you take the harder, more challenging route, and become a pirate, or take on the pirates, then you would end up with a more fulfilling game. But doesn’t this route put this player at a disadvantage if you are playing against someone who likes trading?

So, back to my original question, are we playing this right, is it too easy to earn glory points?
