Page 15 of the rulebook, regarding starting with a new captain, states the following:

"Follow the Player Board setup instructions on page 5, with two important differences:

1) <...>

2) You only receive 10 Gold from the game if you have no Gold stashed. If you have less than 10 Gold stashed, you take all the Gold you can from your stash and the game will supply you with the remaining gold up to 10"

The letter of the rules, as written above, seems to indicate the following:

- 0 gold stashed -> take 10 gold into your ship
- 1-9 gold stashed -> empty stash into ship, top up ship to 10 gold
- 10+ gold stashed -> <???>

My question is: What happens if you have 10 or more gold in your stash?

Do you:
- Leave your stash alone and start with an empty ship (the literal interpretation of the rules)
or
- Start with 10 gold in your ship from your stash (the implication of the rules)

There is nothing more specific anywhere in the rules, the FAQ/Errata document, or this entire forum.
