Thread: Merchants & Marauders:: Rules:: NPC's and Event Card that removes a bounty

Couple question:

Just played our first game and I think we got most of the rules correct using all the resources that boardgamegeek provides. Thanks.

I hope I can get the facts right as we played last weekend and I’m just now getting a chance to post.

We had a player pirate with Spanish (I think) bounty and no others (He was also the starting player). There was Spanish NPC in an adjacent sea zone to the player. He draws the event card, which happened to be the one that allows the players to remove a bounty for 5 gold but also the card moved the Spanish NPC. So my question is which come first, pay to get rid of bounty then no attack or does the NPC move and attack first then the bounty is removed? We allowed the player to remove the bounty and avoid the attack.

Also if by allowing the player to remove the bounty would the NPC still track to the player pirate or would it follow the card if the direction was not towards the player?

I think the rule is clear but just wanted to verify that pirate NPC’s do not attack player pirates, right?

Will play our next game this weekend so I’m sure some questions will arise.

Thanks again for all you do!!
Tim
